Here you will find links to sites and products I myself use. Be sure to check out Skin Deep.

My process:

If I have a product at home I am unsure of, I check to see if it is listed on Skin Deep.  If it is not, I then check the questionable ingredients [and send Skin Deep a request to test the company's products I'm questioning...if they get enough requests they'll try to do so].  Anything scoring higher than a 3 I try not to use more than once a week and anything above a 5 I do not use at all.

If I have something I want to buy, I always check for it on Skin Deep first…either the actual company and product or just the general term of the item I’m looking for.  For example: I need new mascara but I don’t know who sells some with a good rating.  I’ll go to Skin Deep, type in a search for mascara and then research the results with the lowest rating.  Things I look for in the research are:

  • Are there any product reviews?
  • How much does it cost?  Is this something I can afford on a regular basis?
  • What are the company’s business practices?
  • Is the company environmentally active in other aspects?
